That doesn\u2019t necessarily mean that the creator isn\u2019t looking for some kind of compensation, but usually they are not interested in receiving payment for their work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In contrast to Social Media content that is being created as part of a cooperation with influencers, companies\/brands have little to no control over UGC. They may define a framework, and encourage certain outcomes, but there is no way of controlling whether a given user photo on Instagram fits their brand identity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>User-Generated Content is by no means a novelty, and <strong>isn\u2019t restricted to social networks<\/strong> either. However, you don\u2019t have to pay a salary to users who voluntarily provide you with an Instagram picture. Consequently, financial investments are going to be rather small.<\/p><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to motivate users to provide you with content<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Followers don\u2019t simply start churning out Social Media content for your brand because it\u2019s a rainy day and they\u2019re bored of watching Netflix. This can be a bonus, a special deal, or the prize in a contest. The potential of gaining more reach for their profile can also be extrinsically motivating. In some cases, even the desire to behave altruistically \u2013 the joy of helping out someone else \u2013 could be at play.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Intrinsic motivation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is motivation that comes from within. Most often, there is a desire for self-display or the wish to be an active participant in a group of like-minded people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most of the time, you will achieve the best results by <strong>interconnecting both extrinsic and intrinsic motivation<\/strong>. Consider for example an Instagram contest, where the winner will get a prize, but every participant also has a unique opportunity to increase their individual reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Integrating UGC into your Social Media strategy: tips and best practices<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Put UGC in the context of products<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>UCG campaigns really lend themselves to being product-focused. The simplest way of implementing them is by <strong>requesting Followers to post pictures with your products<\/strong>, and reference your brand or campaign with a hashtag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many fashion producers are running particularly successful campaigns of this type, but BMW has shown that they also work well for cars. Once they have found 10,000 supporters, their proposal is reviewed by Lego. Lego gains more reach without any effort on its part.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The campaign is ideal as an ongoing &#8220;evergreen campaign&#8221; across multiple platforms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Organize contests<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Contests may have been around forever, but they\u2019re still very effective. Not least, this is true for UGC. After all, there is no better motivation for creating content for brands than being able to <strong>publicly compete with other users and possibly even win a prize<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One <strong>cleverly conceptualized Instagram contest was run by the Prosecco brand Valdo<\/strong>.
