AI Connect: Swat.io’s MCP

With AI Connect, you can connect Swat.io more easily with your workflows and complete recurring tasks around assets, drafts, and posts faster. Instead of clicking through lists or transferring content manually, AI Connect can help you retrieve information, prepare content, and create or update items directly in Swat.io.

What is an MCP?

In short: MCP stands for Model Context Protocol and, put simply, acts as a connection between an LLM and a tool. This makes it possible for the AI to communicate directly with the tool and perform actions.

In practice, this means you can type or speak prompts into the chatbot of your choice, which are then executed directly in Swat.io.

How it works

Initial setup

First, you need to establish a connection to the MCP. Depending on the AI you want to use, the process may differ slightly. Even though the connection requires a few clicks, it can be set up quickly and easily.

Please note: API access which is relevant to use AI Connect is available for users in M-, L- and Custom plans.

What you can do

AI Connect provides a range of actions that help you complete common tasks from your publishing workflow. Here are a few examples:

Find workspaces & channels
You can display all workspaces and channels available to you, including platform types (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads, Bluesky, etc.).

Manage assets
You can retrieve a list of assets and create new assets.

Stay on top of drafts
You can list drafts, create new drafts, and edit existing drafts (adjust text, change status, set a due date, add attachments).

Create & update posts
You can create posts and modify existing ones (e.g., text, title, first comment, media). You can also perform actions such as bulk uploads, which would not be possible directly in Swat.io.

Important: As a security measure, it is not possible to publish posts directly through the AI. If you create new posts via the chatbot, they will appear in Swat.io with the status “Proposed.”

Example prompts

Prompts could look like this:

“Show me all drafts with status in_progress and sort them by updated.”
“Create a draft for next week including an image from our assets.”
“Create a LinkedIn post for Thursday at 10:00 and add a first comment.”
“Move the post scheduled for Friday to Monday and update the text.”

Of course, much more complex actions are also possible. The combination of the capabilities of LLMs together with the possibilities of MCP is what makes this update so powerful.

For example, you can first generate post ideas or texts with ChatGPT, Claude, or similar tools and then schedule them directly into your editorial calendar using a prompt.

Tips & Tricks

Define context
Always tell the LLM which workspace or channel you are referring to. This reduces follow-up questions. You can also create separate chats for different workspaces so you only need to specify the workspace once at the beginning.

Ask the LLM what’s possible
We have defined and implemented specific actions for AI Connect. If you’re unsure whether or how to execute certain commands, simply ask in the chat and the AI will guide you.

Be patient
Requests and commands that run through the MCP usually take a bit longer than responses to regular prompts.
