✨ Swat.io AI: New smart features for easier social media management Learn more now

Head of Product [m/f/d] (Full-time) | SaaS | Vienna (hybrid) or Remote within the EU

🎤 Who we are:

Swat.io is a self-financed, profitable B2B SaaS company with around 1800 customers: agencies, mid-market, and enterprise brands that need to work reliably under pressure.
Social media work is complex, relentless, and constantly changing. We build products that don't just organize it — they absorb the cognitive load, handle what used to take hours, and make things possible that weren't before. Different challenges, different tools — each one built to genuinely lighten the load.
Our vision is clear: We define how professionals manage social media in an AI-native world — where human judgment and AI agents work as one. Global in ambition, substance over hype.
Our product is built for small teams with big responsibilities to be intuitive enough that customers can manage their entire journey from free trial through ongoing use as independently as possible, while our Sales team drives strategic sales opportunities, working with customers who value in-person interaction and guidance.
We are a small, dynamic, and at the same time stable company with over 15 years of bootstrapped success. Things move fast here; good ideas are heard and acted on. Around 50 people from diverse backgrounds work lean, agile, and with a high degree of ownership.

🦄 Who you are:

You'll join Swat.io as our Head of Product and take strategic ownership of our Core product across the roadmap, team, and commercial outcomes. You'll report to Johannes (CEO Product), and as part of the leadership team, you’ll work as a peer to the Heads of Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience, and People & Operations.

You form opinions fast and write them down. You think commercially — NRR, ACV, add-on logic, and pricing tiers are a lens on every roadmap call, not a finance department's job. You stay genuinely close to customers. For you, commercial sharpness starts with a deep understanding of their needs.
You're AI-native by default: not as a talking point, but as a daily practice. You've shipped AI features that real customers paid for, and you know the difference between a demo and a product.
Who you are not: This role is not for someone who waits for strategy to arrive from above, manages features rather than outcomes, or needs a large org and a VC war chest to do meaningful work. If you're looking for a big R&D budget, thick PM/Eng handoffs, or a Product team of 20, this won't be the right fit.

💡 Purpose of the role

Swat.io's Core product: Publisher, Inbox, and Insights, serves 1,800 professional social media teams. You'll own the full picture: what gets built, who builds it, and whether it moves the commercial needle.
You'll be trusted to take full ownership of:
  • Product team leadership: leading and enabling our PMs and designers. We are moving towards small, autonomous AI-empowered teams with end-to-end ownership, and that's where you step in. You set the hiring bar, own performance, and decide who builds what.
  • Product operating system: Cycle planning, discovery, specs, release tiering, and customer interviews. The rituals that make a focused team faster than a busy one.
  • Commercial product thinking: Every roadmap decision runs through a commercial lens. NRR, ACV, add-on logic, and pricing tiers are your tools, not someone else's report.
  • AI product leadership: Shipping AI features that real customers pay for — agents, evals, MCPs, skills in production.
  • Cross-functional alignment: Actively participating in the leadership team, contributing to the company's strategic development. Product doesn't ship in a vacuum, so you'll be the one pulling everyone toward the same number. You present your numbers and blockers to the board bi-weekly. No one chases you for status; you push it.
What the first 90 days look like
  • Product, Sales, Marketing, and AM are aligned on the expansion sequence.
  • Full ownership of the Product team - people management handed over, roles clear, and the team running with confidence under your leadership.
  • Shape how the product team + developers work together in an AI-assisted future.

🦸 Are you ready for this?

We define ready as:
  • You bring 8+ years in SaaS product, with at least 3 in a leadership role owning a full B2B SaaS product area end-to-end, from roadmap through commercial outcomes, not just feature delivery
  • AI-native by default: You already work with agents, evals, MCPs, and skills daily and shipped AI features (agents, evals, MCPs, or similar) that real customers paid for in production - not demos, not pilots
  • You form opinions fast and write them down. You argue why — with data, not adjectives. You don't wait for strategy from above. You shape it.
  • You have technical depth to challenge engineering trade-offs, understand platform decisions, and prefer small product-engineer teams over thick PM/Eng handoffs.
  • You think commercially: NRR, ACV, add-on logic, pricing tiers — these aren't finance words for you. They're a lens on every roadmap call.
  • You are a strong communicator: you skip jargon and translate the product into language that Sales can sell, Account Management can position, and customers can buy. You push status proactively. No one should ever have to chase you for "where are we?"
  • You're comfortable in a bootstrapped, profitable, ~50-person company. No VC war chest. No big R&D bets. Speed and focus instead of headcount.
  • You stay genuinely curious and keep learning about the market, your customers, AI, and your own blind spots. You update your thinking when new information arrives, actively seek out perspectives that challenge your own, and don't confuse confidence with certainty.
Nice-to-haves:
  • German language skills (a genuine plus for DACH customers, not a requirement)
  • Expertise from the Social Media industry
Don’t worry if you don't meet all the qualifications. If this opportunity catches your eye and you are passionate about the field, we are happy to receive your application. If we both think we are a good match, as team fit is as important to us as technical fit, we will find a solution and grow together.

🥞 Our stack/How we work:

  • Done is better than perfect. We ship, learn, and adjust. We don't wait for the ideal version.
  • Change brings chaos. We allow it. Enough structure to stay aligned, enough freedom to move fast.
  • Speed wins everywhere except where it can't. Data, code quality, core functionality, and payment get the time they need. Everything else favors speed.
The product team plans everything in Linear and Claude Cowork, collaborates with designers in Figma, and works in 3-week development cycles, each starting with a kickoff to clarify resources, scope, and what we can realistically accomplish, whether for research or execution.
We keep our processes agile with fixed points such as weekly team meetings, retrospectives, and ad hoc collaboration via Slack and Google Meet. We are always open to jumping on calls, diving into problems together, and making sure humour is part of the process. A strong GIF game is recommended.
We enhance productivity with advanced AI features of Claude Cowork, track user feedback in Linear, and analyze product usage with PostHog to guide decisions and priorities.
Bigger projects typically span 2–3 cycles, but we aim to ship a meaningful first iteration within one cycle.
The entire Swat.io team collaborates on Slack, Linear, Google Meet, Notion, Google Suite, and FigJam. Claude Cowork is our company-wide, unified agent tool, with AI agents integrated into all of our company processes and mindsets.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should my application look like?

Our job posting got your attention – great! We are looking forward to getting to know you better. Show us who you are – we are interested in your personality and how you fit into our team. 🤝
Please follow the link in the job ad to upload your CV and tell us in your own words why you think you want to be part of our Swat.io Crew.

We are also always happy to receive videos and/or work samples from you. If you want to send us a video, you can record it while submitting your application in our applicant tracking system. You can also upload it to Google Drive or YouTube and share the link with us.

Should my application be written in English or German?

We are an international team and our company language is English – however, certain positions require business fluent German skills (e.g. positions in Customer Support, Marketing and Sales Teams) and for those we kindly ask you to hand in your application in German. As a rule of thumb: follow the job ad's language for your application documents.

What does the recruitment process look like?
  1. Cultural Call (30-45 minutes)
After submitting your application, you’ll hear from us within one week. If your profile matches what we’re looking for, we’ll invite you to a first 30-45 minute cultural call with our Talent Partner.
Please note: even if the job description is written in German, the first conversation will be in English, as this is our company language.

  2. Functional Interview (50 minutes)
In the second round, you’ll meet your future Team Manager in a 50-minute video call. This is a chance for both sides to dive deeper into your experience and expectations.

  3. In-Depth Interview / Assessment
For some roles, we’ll ask you to complete tasks in advance and present them to us. During this stage, you’ll meet several future colleagues, present or collaborate on case tasks related to the role, and gain deeper insight into how we work. Depending on the position, you may also meet our CEOs or CFO during or after this step.

  4. Meet the Team
After successfully completing the assessment, we may invite you to meet additional team members to ensure a great mutual fit.

  5. Offer
If we’re convinced by your professional skills and cultural contribution, and you feel the same, you’ll receive an offer from us. We hope this will be the start of a great collaboration.

  6. Welcome Aboard
Once everything is signed, you’ll receive your contract documents and onboarding details. We’ll pair you with a personal buddy to help you settle in smoothly and feel welcome from day one.

When should I expect a response and how long does the recruitment process take?

The current average duration from application to signed contract is about 1,5 months. If you need feedback really fast, please communicate this with us from the beginning, we can consider this during our planning. Mostly closing dates for all open positions are as soon as possible, but it is more important for us to find a perfect fit.

Are there on-site meetings/interviews at the Swat.io office?

Most of our team members work remotely and there are a few regulars in the office. Some teams gather together for certain occasions like brainstorming, co-working, socializing, and after-work activities.

We also offer our candidates to come by the office for one of the steps of the recruiting process. It can be for an assessment, to meet the team, or to pick up the equipment but there is always an option to meet some of us in person.

I have been invited to a video interview with you – how can I prepare?

We schedule most of our video-calls with Google Meet, Zoom or Around. Make sure you are familiar with the tool if you have never used it before, ensure a steady internet connection and check your microphone/speakers.

What is the company language?

With team members from over 12 countries, we are very international. For this reason, our company language is English and all internal communications happen in English. Nevertheless, as the majority of our clients are German speaking, some teams operate in German, f.e. Finance & Operations, Marketing, Sales and Support. Communication within the company happens in English for them as well.
